Love and Discovery is a blog that empowers people’s heart, soul and mind by helping them discover inspirational stories, improve their mental health, and spotlighting organizations and celebrities making a positive impact in the world.
In a time when negativity rules the internet, I wanted to create a space where we could all learn and be empowered to contribute positively to this world. The world would be a better place if more people followed the golden rule of “love your neighbor as yourself.”
However, there are many obstacles that get in the way of living out a life of loving and helping others. Bitterness. Resentment. Fear. Self-doubt. Insecurity. Jealousy. Self-centeredness. Disappointment. Frustration. Stress. Anxiety. Depression. The list goes on and on.
I have been there. I have been paralyzed by all of the above at one point or another. Several years ago, I dealt with a long bout of depression triggered by a traumatic event. I was able to recover with the help of a support group, God and music. Then years later, after my daughter was born, I experienced postpartum depression. I’m thankfuI I was able to recover from depression but I know many have not been able to and that’s where I hope I can help make a difference in more lives.
My desire is to help others overcome their obstacles and live life to the fullest. Many people try to put you in a box in life. They try to pigeonhole you or stereotype you based on your gender, your ethnicity or your spiritual beliefs. I am a singer, music composer, talk show host, film director, speaker, wife and mother. I have never believed there were any limits to what I could accomplish. I was intent on defying the expectations of what an Asian-American woman could do.
We all have a story to tell that can inspire someone else. I hope “Love and Discovery” can be a place we learn from each other about what we’ve discovered in life and how we can love more.
