In the midst of the Olympics, I got to celebrate different type of champions in the mental health arena when I attended the Voice Awards with my Utalk Radio team. Each year, SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) honors those whose work and personal stories of recovery are educating the public about mental health and substance abuse at the Voice Awards.
Celebrities such as Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Rob Reiner and shows like Blue Bloods and Empire were recognized for their work with raising visibility of mental illnesses. See full list of nominees and winners here.
You can watch my interviews below with Voice Award host, Dr. Oz, award winners Yashi Brown, Rebbie Jackson-Brown and Stacy Brown-Salas plus nominee, Jacob Moore, founder of No Stigmas.
