Actor Clark Gregg plays a hero among superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Agent Phil Coulson. Each week, he helps save the world on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D on ABC but this month, he’s sharing his story and helping to erase the stigma of mental illness.
I attended the Global Summit on Mental Health Culture Change where Gregg spoke candidly of his ongoing battle with anxiety and the help he’s able to seek for it. He advocated for a culture change in Hollywood in particular to acknowledge the struggles many in the industry have with mental illness. He took a bold step to help empower others talk more openly about mental illness and to recognize and support those around us who are afflicted by it.
